Understanding the New SEC Admission Landscape

From the 2027 graduating cohort onwards, students will sit for the new Singapore–Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) examination. The SEC recognises subjects taken at different levels and supports more flexible subject combinations, allowing students to better reflect their strengths and learning pathways.

In line with this shift, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has updated post-secondary admission criteria across Junior Colleges / Millennia Institute, Polytechnics, ITE, and Arts Institutions to better account for diverse learner profiles.
